Thursdays weigh-ins didn't go as smoothily as expected from a mostly non controversal Bellator. Four fighters missed weight prior to their Friday Bellator 137 bouts, two of which were the main and co-main events.
Reigning Middleweight champ Brandon Halsey weighed in more than three pounds overweight and was banned from cutting more according to the comission due to the fact that he had already exceeded the allowed pounds lost in that day. As such his title has been stripped. Luckily for Kendall Grove, the fight will continue. This means if Halsey were to win tomorrow he would NOT win back his title, it would then be vacant.
The co-main event suffered some setbacks as well. Mike Richman who was set to face Eduardo Dantas came in a whopping four pounds overweight and the fight has been cancelled.
This is an embarrassing mark on Bellator who has prided themselves as having avoided most of the troubles that seem to plague it's competetors, UFC.
