RESULTS: Rockhold demolishes Machida at UFC Fight Night New Jersey

PRELIMS:

Takeya Mizugaki (20-8-2) vs. Aljamain Sterling (10-0-0)
Mizugaki has been pro since 2005 and has won six of his last eight bouts, but is coming off a fresh loss. Sterling is a two time All-American wrestler and has won his last two UFC bouts.
Round 1: Sterling had control most of the round, and got in a few good hits in the last few seconds.
Round 2: Sterling takes Mizugaki again early in round 2, trys for a body triangle at about 1:30, unable to submit. Still another big round for Sterling.
Round 3: Forces the tap in the third via arm triangle from the bottom, beautiful submission victory.
"I kept telling myself, I do this everyday," said Sterling after the fight.

Corey Anderson (6-0-0) vs. Gian Villante (12-5-0)
Anderson won his last two UFC fights and was part of Team Edgar on TUF 19. Villante has seven wins by knockout, two by submission but has lost two of his four UFC appearances.
Round 1: Anderson trying for a takedown, Villante able to escape. Villante responds with two vicious kicks in a row. Both fighters stayed on their feet.
Round 2: Standing fight so far, more of the same from round 1. Anderson is letting his hands go, but Villante is taking a beating.
Round 3: 26 kicks so far by Villante to start out round 3. Both fighters still trying for a takedown, both unsucessful. Villante with the KO at the last moment!
"I was just trying to punish those legs," Villante said.

Ovince Saint Preux (17-6-0) vs. Patrick Cummins (7-1-0)
Saint Preux has won 14 of his last 16 fights, including his last UFC bout against Mauricio Rua. He has had 11 first round finishes. Cummins is coming off two loses in the UFC, and wrestled Daniel Cormier at the 2007 DAve Shultz International Open. He was a walk-on at Penn State and a 2004 NCAA runner-up.
Round 1: Cummins gets the takedown first, but Saint Preux gets right back up to his feet. Saint Preux with a left uppercut that takes Cummins down.
"I knew the number one thing coming in here was to stop the takedowns," Saint Preux said.

Jim Miller (124-5-0) vs. Beneil Dariush (10-1-0)
Miller has won 11 of his last 15 fights, but comes off a loss to Donald Cerrone. He has 14 wins by submission, three by KO. Miller also has a brother in UFC, Dan. Dariush is coming off of a three loss winning streak, most recent loss was to Daron Cruickshank in March. He has finished eight of his last nine wins and has had fice first round finishes.
Round 1: Dariush landing some great shots and had Miller against the cage. Miller takes Dariush down and tries for the triangle but Daruish escapes.
Round 2: Dariush with control, but Miller flips and tries for the guillotine, and he escapes. Dariush tries for body triangle submission, Miller escapes. Dariush tries again for the body triangle, can't quite get the position.
Round 3: More survival mode for Miller, Dariush has had control most of this fight. Round 3 ends with no finish. To the scorecards.
RESULTS: Beneil Dariush defeats Jim Miller via, unanimous decision, 29-28
MAIN CARD:

Felice Herrig (10-5-0) vs. Paige VanZant (4-1-0)
Herring was on Team Pettis for TUF 20 and won The Ultimate Fighter 20 finale. She had a 23-5 pro kickboxing record and has won five of her last six MMA fights. VanZant is the second youngest female fighter currently in the UFC, and third overall. She has one first round finish and is coming off a win against Kailin Curran.
Round 1: Right to the mat, with Herrig dominating on the ground. VanZant took control on the ground, lands some tough punches. VanZant tries for the leg lock late in round one, Herrig saved by the bell.
Round 2: Both fighters going for the finish. Neither had control for too long. Herrig tried for the armbar but positioning wasn't right. VanZant almost finished Herrig again, saved by the bell.
Round 3: More of the same two rounds. Herrig getting the brunt of every hit, looks like the fight could be stopped at any moment.
"I don't feel any pressure, I'm the underdog. I'm supposed to lose. Winning is so much better," VanZant said.
RESULTS: Paige VanZant defeats Felice Herrig via unanimous decision, 30-27,30-26, 30-26

Cub Swanson (21-6-0) vs. Max Holloway (12-3-0)
Swanson is coming off a loss to Frankie Edgar. He has four wins by submission and 11 by KO. He has won six of his last seven. Holloway is coming off a four fight winning streak, having won all of his UFC fight appearances. He finished four of the last five fights.
Round 1: Excellent exchange right at the bell, both fighters ending with a smile and a thumbs up.
Round 2: Swanson isn't very active this round, not taking a lot, but not giving a lot either.
Round 3: Swanson taps, due to guillotine
"It feels great. It just feels great," Holloway said.
RESULTS: Max Holloway defeats Cub Swanson via guillotine at 3:58 in round 3.

Ronaldo Souza (186) vs. Chris Camozzi (185)
Souza has won 11 of his last 12 fights, including a recent win against Gegard Mousasi. He has 14 first round finishes. Camozzi is coming off a four fight losing streak. He has six wins by TKO, five by submission. He was a member of Team Ortiz on Tuf 11.
Round 1: Souza gets the first takedown. Camozzi taps.
RESULTS: Ronaldo Souza submits Chris Camozzi via armbar (verbal tap) at 2:33 in round 1.

Lyoto Machida (22-5-0) vs. Luke Rockhold (13-2-0)
Machida is ranked no. 2 in Middleweights and boasts the third most knockdowns in UFC history, the third highest striking accuracy in Light Heavyweight history and the third highest takedow defense in Light Heavyweight history. Machida is considered the owner of one of the most technical and unorthodox styles in mixed martial arts. He has a 3-1 record at Middleweight.
Rockhold is ranked no. 4 in Middleweight and holds the title for the most first-round finishes in modern UFC/Strikeforce history as well as the third most knockdowns in UFC/Strikeforce Middleweight history. Rockhold has won 12 of his last 13, including his last three fights. He has 10 first round finishes and has gone the full five rounds twice.
Round 1: Machida lands the first strikes, Rockhold gets him to the ground and in a choke. Machida able to get out but Rockhold applies top pressure. Rockhold able to keep Machida on the ground for most of the round. Rockhold battered Machida. Rockhold takes that round easy.
Round 2: Machida's eye is almost swollen shut and he's not moving well this round, still hurting from last round. Machida falls to the ground again, Rockhold takes the top again. Rockhold takes Machida by the neck.
"Did you hear my walk out song? I'm the best around," Rockhold said.
RESULTS: Luke Rockhold submits Lyoto Machida via rear naked choke at 2:31 in round 2.
