Chad Mendes dominated Ricardo Lamas in the first and only round of their Featherweight bout at UFC Fight Night 63 in Fairfax, Virgina.
Mendes, who is ranked no. 2 layed into Lamas (ranked no. 4) with a barrage of punches that sent Lamas tumbling to the ground more than once, each time he tried to get back up to recover only to be struck back down again.
Mendes is a force to be reckoned with as his past has shown. His 31-second knockout of Cody McKenzine at UFC 148 is the 5th fasted KO/TKO in UFC Featherweight history and the fastest knockout in UFC history stemming from a body strike. Mendes is also one of only 11 fighters in UFC history to earn four consecutive knockouts.

There was also some controversy on Saturday when a split decision victory was given to Al Iaquinta instead of Jorge Masvidal who seemed to have control the majority of the fight. The crowd went wild with boo's when the announcement was made, and Masvidal stormed out of the Octogan. Iaquinta's post fight interview was spent spewing expletives to the crowd before he stormed off himself.
